First, the good news. Emily Blunt gives a career performance and Colin Firth is solid as the villain. The first 45 mins and the last 15 are good, especially the gripping newsroom scenes at the end showing how a TV network affiliate story goes global within minutes. The middle is marred by appalling, B-grade car chase scenes and familiar hide-and-seek tropes. Spielberg's plot leaves lots of questions unanswered, which I didn't mind but infuriates many others. Overall, it's all too conspiratorial for me. And why do aliens care only about Americans and Roswell NM? I guess they binge-watche "The X-Files".

If you've watched most of the past news stories with "authorities" talking about UAP / UFO stuff (don't just tell us, show us). This movie is all that but with added never been seen footage either actually declassified, added, and newly made-up for movie imagery. It's entertaining but leaves a lot unanswered (still) follow-up sequel, wanting more.... It' ain't the X-Files, perhaps a prequel of sorts

To start, I'm a huge Steven Spielberg fan. "Close Encounters" and "E.T." will always be in my top ten because they never failed to treat us to the joy and the adventure of this type of story. "Disclosure Day" went down the checklist of those other two movies -- which was probably a big part of the problem here -- but that last thing that needed to be checked off -- Steven Spielberg -- well, it wasn't. People often complain about actors phoning in their performances; I'm sorry, Mr. Spielberg, but it really felt like you just phoned everything in. (And if I could give the show just 2-1/2 stars, I would.)
