Based on the trailer, I was expecting a romantic comedy with a twist. Turns out that this “twist” is literally deadly serious…
Given the demanding topic that the writers decided to go, its realization is rather shallow. We don’t learn much about Emma’s motivations to initially go the way she went, nor what made her turn around to the polar opposite. While intriguing, that part falls flat and like an opportunity missed.
The not quite convincing plot aside, acting is nice, though the interspersed flashbacks and fantasies are sometimes confusing.

There is more to this movie than a couple falling in love and getting married. This is about relationships’ definitions, facing old demons together, growing emotionally (or not), and learning who your friends are. The two women are opposite each other in their learning arcs, The only steady character in the film is Mike, but the other 3 main characters struggle through the chaos created by an alcohol-fueled conversation.

That was horrible! I didn't see any comedy in it, just dark, and painful to watch and so not realistic, and just gross. I thought I could trust you reviewers. Guess I need to be more discerning. :(

Pattinson is weak - Zendaya is amazing. The topic of school shootings is hugely important and it isn’t talked about except when another one happens and it’s thoughts & prayers time. Never seems to be the time for real discussion about causes and responsibility. This movie impacted my group. Glad I saw it.
