I would have to say that I didn't enjoy the movie much. There was not much suspense in it and I didn't think the characters were gripping. I did like the eerie feeling I got watching the lights go out in the elevator and every time they came back on, something happened to the characters. I was expecting more of a twist and unexpected events to take place since it was M. Night Shyamalan movie but not as good as the 6th sense.

From the directors of Quarantine comes Devil, though I read a cheeky Tweet that said it should have been called Hellavator. Five people get in a wonky lift that breaks down due to more sinister factors than Gremlins in the shaft. A few jumpy scares and the token M Night twisty reveal.

This was an exceptionally well put together movie, by far M. Night Shyamalan's best. The blackout moments in the elevator are truly eerie and the desperation of the characters on the outside of the elevator as they struggle to both free the occupants and understand what is happening adds to the mounting tension of the movie. Those who are expection 'horoor' a la Jason or Freddie are bound to be disappointed, as are those who are expecting a lot of gore. This movie is more sophisticated than that - it delves into the spiritual question of whether it is really possible to defeat the devil.
