70mm was designed to be projected onto enormous screens for maximum effect. During its initial release in Toronto it was projected in giant screen Cinerama and ran for almost 3 years. Unfortunately, the screen at TIFF is way too small to appreciate this movie the way Kubrick intended it to be seen. Hopefully there'll be a screening in 70mm on the massive screen at the Cinesphere. If you have to see it at TIFF... sit in the first 5 or 6 rows from the screen. Any further back and you may as well rent the DVD or Blu-ray.
