A phenomenal performance by Cate Blanchett, an engaging story with confusions of reality, backstage conflicts, towering passion makes it an awe-inspiring movie. Cate should win the Oscar for her incredible work in the this film. It’s a long and engrossing movie. I totally loved it!

This movie is the antithesis of an action movie. It is a slow, complex movie that draws you into the world of classical music, orchestras and fascinating characters. The plot unfolds with every twist and turn. It is a movie that lives in your head for a while; there is lots to reflect upon.

I rarely spend a lot of time thinking about a movie afterward, but this one hooked me. Perhaps my love of & familiarity with classical music bias me [the Mahler and Elgar performances are wonderful], but my thoughts circle around the conductor Lydia Tar, played with breathtaking brilliance by Blanchett. Her personal life seemed complicated & even mysterious, and I intend to see the film again, knowing its denouemant, to try to follow the clues I missed the first time, possibly too happy with the music and the world of symphony, which I got hooked on while a very poor young woman living in NYC, watching Bernstein from the 2nd balcony!

This was an exceptional film. Strongly recommended, the atmosphere is brilliant and the acting is crisp and affecting.
Furthermore, it will really make you think about our era of cancel culture.
