A teacher (Viola Davis) risks her career to join a single mother (Maggie Gyllenhaal) in her attempt to overrule school administrators and bring change to a school that desperately needs to rise above its bottom ranked position.
Together they will take on the school board, including a union rep (Holly Hunter) who is not above using questionable methods in order to stop them.
